There’s a new superhero on the scene. This clean-food-champion puts pressure on restaurants and companies to remove industrial seed oils, like Canola, from their food. This is very hard work because:

- the entire food industry was bamboozled into believing that Canola (and other cheap veggie oils) were healthy
- most consumers still don’t think about the oils in their food. But they should because these unstable, rancid, polyunsaturated oils are wrecking people’s health. They cause inflammation and lead to chronic diseases.
- The Canola cartel has been so successful at promoting their oil as a modern wonder, that even indigenous cultures have forsaken their health-giving traditional oils for this ultra-processed drivel—like ghee in India and olive oil in Israel. When my cousin in Israel told me his mother switched to Canola “because it has no taste and is therefore versatile” I sent him documentation including my own blogposts here and here explaining why this was a bad idea. He conveyed this info to his mother, and she replied: “It couldn’t be that bad…all my friends use it”😡.
My new superhero ally is Seed Oil Scout.
The owner/founder/team developed an app that tracks what oils restaurants are using! Download it for $2.99 and then look up restaurants in your area to see where it’s safe to eat. The legend uses colors to rate establishments:
- dark green: dine fearlessly
- light green: dine happily (most dishes are served oil free and you can sub)
- orange: dine cautiously (many dishes contain seed oils)
- red: dine shamefully (impossible to enjoy seed-oil free meal)
You’ll be surprised by what you learn! Do “fancy” restaurants use better oils? Probably not: no one is keeping them honest and so they can get away with it. They may think that cheap oils are okay, but it’s hard to believe that a chef who went to culinary school could fall for this.
Guess who’s been blowing the whistle for 40 years? Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr! Click here to find out more…
How can you contribute to cleaning up our food supply?
Speak up! Help collect info! All you have to do is ask, whenever you eat out, what oils are used. If the waiter doesn’t know s/he can ask the chef. Then report back: whistleblower@seedoilscout.com
You even get paid for tips with their “Declassified kitchen program”.

The Gruesome Reality
Here are some juicy tidbits from recent emails:
- The most expensive ($68) Michelin-starred lasagna in America is doused in PAM canola oil. Fill out their contact form and add to our instagram post (comment @donangienyc) to save America’s Lasagna!
- In 2019 several Panera employees were fired for revealing how the Mac n Cheese is prepared on Tiktok (cooked in a plastic bag)

Mac n cheese monster. So yuk! - Erewhon caved to pressure–after Seed Oil Scout called in the troops to comment on Erewhon’s instagram page, they eliminated seed oils from their chips and hot bar!
- Here’s one that might surprise you: Wayland wild blueberries aren’t wild! Yes, I’m disappointed too…I’ve been buying this product for years, assuming that “wild” was superior to “organic farmed”. It turns out wild is just a “species” of farmed blueberries. And they are actually sprayed with pesticides, although less so since they were threatened with a lawsuit for aerial spraying that polluted local rivers in Maine! This is what Chat GPT said when prompted by me:

At my prompting, Chat GPT discloses the dirt on Wyland’s
